Whois Privacy Protection, occasionally also called Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the authentic contact details of domain owners on WHOIS check websites. Without this service, the name, postal address and email of any domain registrant will be freely available. Giving fake info during the domain registration process or altering the real details at a later time will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain registrant losing their ownership of the domain name. The policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), require that the WHOIS info must be correct and up to date all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by domain name registrars as an answer to the arising concerns about potential identity theft. If the service is active, the registrar company’s contact information will be listed instead of the domain name registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are some country-code extensions that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you get a cloud hosting package from us, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domains as long as their extensions support this service. You can register/transfer a domain name and add Whois Privacy Protection upon signup or you can enable the service for any of your domain names at any moment afterwards via the Hepsia Control Panel. The procedure is very easy – once you sign in, you’ll need to visit the Registered Domains section where you’ll notice a list of all the domain names that you have registered through us. For each of them you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon, which will inform you if the service is enabled or not. By clicking on it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain, or you can disable the service if it is currently enabled.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you register a domain name under it, you can activate our Whois Privacy Protection service without difficulty. This requires only a few clicks of the mouse in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, through which you administer everything connected with your account. This is the place where you can see all your registered domain names and for each one of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo, using which you can enable, renew or deactivate the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-code domain name extensions that support this option and you will be able to see this in advance, so you won’t end up ordering a service that we can’t provide.
